PINK FLOYD, I WAS THERE

PINK FLOYD, I WAS THERE by R. Houghton, includes hundreds of personal recollections of people seeing Pink Floyd in concerts. It has authenticity because it is direct first-hand memories. You learn about the group as they progress and also generations of fans at the same time. The book starts just before the group renames itself Pink Floyd, previously 'The Tea Set' and it includes details unknown to me like that. It is a most democratic approach to history telling. Book compiled by author Richard Houghton

I worked on PINK FLOYD THE WALL concert show (though not the feature film that was done at Peerless) doing rostrum camerawork for filmed animation used in the concert, so I was asked to contribute a few words to the book (on pages 307-8).

So many talented people worked on the show THE WALL of course Roger Waters brainchild, and Pink Floyd. From the animation point of view the animation design and direction is Gerald Scarfe's who took animation into uncharted territory. asst animation direction: Michael Stuart, asst art direction: Jill Brooks. Animation: Michael Stuart, Bill Hagee, Greg Miller, Chris Caunter, and others. Trace & paint: Sandy Houston. Editing: Peter Hearn & Tony Fish. Camera: Richard Keith Wolff, Julien Holdaway, & more. Supr: Lance Paul. And many more crew members. Many of these animation film-makers portraits are on this website in the 'Screen Cartoonists' gallery, write their name into the search box to see them.
