Brian Haw

Brian Haw (1949 - 2011) peace campaigner visiting Tate Britain, playfully engaging with Art, in the form of “Dirce” by Sir Charles Lawes-Witteronge, before going to a pre-private view for himself and his family, of the Wallinger exhibition, “State Britain” which consists of a careful reconstruction of the Brian Haw protest placards as it was in Parliament Square, shortly before it was confiscated by the police under the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005, SOCPA. Mark Wallinger, won the Turner Prize for his exhibition “State Britain”. London, UK, 14th January 2007

footnote:
When Walking with peace campaigners Brian Haw and Barbara (Babs) Tucker to Tate Britain's, pre-private view, from Parliament Square, Brian Haw spotted this bamboo pole left out on the street for rubbish collection. He picked it up for possible use later in his peace camp back in Parliament Square, putting it aside before entering the Tate Britain Gallery, but not before playfully imitating the action represented in the statue for my photograph.
