Derek Jarman garden

Derek Jarman, (1942 –1994). Jarman was born Michael Derek Elworthy Jarman in Northwood, Middlesex, experimental English film director, stage designer, artist, and writer, found inspiration at Prospect Cottage, Dungeness near to the nuclear power station were he lived at the end period of his life. Jarman created a shingle garden with debris he found on the strange beach. The picture was taken of one such found piece with the background of Dungeness beach in the distance, fourteen years after the artist’s untimely death from an AIDS related illness.
