Marshall Amplification

Dr Jim Marshall OBE (1923 - 2012), at Marshall Amplification plc, worldwide headquarters; which he founded in 1962, makers of the rock world famous Marshall Amplifiers including, the legendary Full Stack. Musicians such as Pete Townshend, John Entwistle, Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix spoke to Jim Marshall about what qualities they were looking for in a guitar amplifier and he developed the Amp required by these artists. Dr Jim Marshall OBE has become the subject of a biography, The Father of Loud, by Rich Maloof, published by Backbeat Books. Marshall, was born 29 July 1923 in Kensington, London; formerly a professional drummer and singer, with a six-piece band in the forties. Later this career led on to Marshall teaching drumming, to such percussionists as Mitch Mitchell and other notables; before starting his music shop and then amp manufacturing business in the early sixties.
